At the September 17th City Council Meeting, the City’s Fiscal Year 2024-2025 budget was approved unanimously. Due to careful management by the City, the property tax levy was reduced by $0.02 from $0.45468 to $0.43468. This is the 2nd time in 3 years the property tax levy for the City of Gretna has been reduced. The estimated operating levy (not including bonded debt service) of $0.244 remains well below the $0.42 statutory maximum.
It is both exciting and encouraging for the City of Gretna to continue providing essential public services at or above expected standards while making significant strides in capital improvements across various community facilities. We are proud to maintain an operating levy well below the state-imposed limits. Though this process requires time and patience, the City is committed to positively impacting our residents and responsibly managing the City budget. These efforts readily result in positive economic outcomes, enabling us to adequately fund municipal services, maintain appropriate property tax rates, and ensure stable financial planning for the future of our Great community.
