[ARCHIVED] OPPD 2025 Corporate Operating Plan

We wanted to share a message from Omaha Public Power District as we are getting closer to the New Year.

Currently, OPPD is investing in work that supports reliability, resiliency and growth while still addressing challenges from unanticipated severe weather costs from 2024 as well as inflationary impacts. To that end, OPPD’s proposed 2025 corporate operating plan would make rate adjustments across all customers categories, starting Jan. 1, 2025.

There are a few key factors driving this year’s proposed adjustment:

1. Investments that support reliability and growth like new balancing stations, transmission and distribution assets, and increased vegetation management.

2. An increase in our planning reserve margin requirements (or the amount of power we have access to when our region needs it most), mandated by the Southwest Power Pool.

3. Costs related to the unanticipated severe weather we experienced in 2024.

OPPD is proposing an average rate of 9.44 cents/kwh across all customer categories. On average, this is a 6.3% increase. This will vary slightly by customer groups, but all customers will see some sort of increase. Residential customers will see an average 8.4% increase on their monthly bill, representing an increase of around $9.44 on an average bill of $113. Customers may visit OPPD Community Connect to read more about the proposed general rate change across all customer categories in OPPD’s larger Corporate Operating Plan, as well as FAQs.

OPPD understands the challenges some customers may face. The utility has a range of assistance programs to help those struggling to pay their utility bill. Some of these programs involve collaboration with other organizations. More information is available at oppd.com/EAP.

What’s Next:

OPPD leadership presented the 2025 Corporate Operating Plan, including the proposed general rate and fuel and purchase power (FPPA) adjustments, to the utility’s board of directors at their November meeting.

If approved, beginning Jan. 1, 2025, OPPD will implement an average rate increase of 6.3% across all customer categories. Residential customers, on average, would experience a total increase of 8.4%.
