Latest Updates

February 21st, 2024: The City of Gretna acquired 35-acre property for New Community Complex.

January 7th, 2025: City Council approved the Contract Agreement with Weitz Construction Company for Construction Manager at Risk Services. 

January 13th. 2025: Geotechnical work started to gather soil samples by Thiele Geotech. 

March 2025: Mass Grading RFP's have been released. The company Ruff Grading has started tree demolition which will be completed by April 1st due to the migratory bird act.

  • Sewer Main construction has started! It will run from Capehart Road North along Highway 6.

April 2025: Community members, City leaders and Partners came together for a Groundbreaking Ceremony on April 9th at the future building site. The layout of the interior of the building can be seen below! Media Release

May 2025: Mass Grading has started where the new building will be!

September 2025: Weitz Construction has set up on site, and two geothermal well drilling machines are busy going 300 feet underground. This process will allow our new Community Complex to run on clean, sustainable geothermal energy - helping keep the building comfortable year-round while reducing our environmental impact.

October 2025- All 102 wells have been drilled! 

November 2025: Sewer is complete from the Complex property to the south side of Capehart Road. A portion of the foundation has been poured to start the building of the actual complex!

  • Steel arrived on site Monday, December 15th

 







 








February 2026: 

  • Concrete foundation walls and elevator shaft walls complete!
  • 1078 Cubic Yards of concrete poured and 304,358 pounds of steel!
  • February 18th 3:30pm-6:00pm is the Hoist Beam Signing Ceremony in front of Gretna City Hall. The beam will be placed in the elevator shaft, and will not be covered in fireproofing so the signatures are left uncovered.
